Becoming a Company of One

Presented by: Dr. Dale Callahan

In this talk Dale brings the audience to understand that we are all entrepreneurs. Even those who work for large companies each operate as a single company inside the larger. The result of this training has turned around people, groups, divisions, and in some cases entire companies as they start to understand the customers they serve and how  each person adds value to the corporation.

He has been a faculty member of entrepreneurship and director of the executive graduate program Information Engineering and Management since 2000. He has been a frequent speaker at business, corporate, and association functions.

He thinks differently about work. After all, the name of his book is Resumes are Worthless! While he has a few standard talking topics, he often speaks on the real view of work and how people can move from the over 50% of people who hate their work to those few who love what they do!

Dr. Callahan's Biography

Dale Callahan is a leading authority on winning at work. Combining the
skills in engineering, personal leadership, and business strategy, Dale
works with professionals helping them develop their entrepreneurial muscles to foster innovation and economic development. He is the director and faculty of the graduate program in engineering management at the University
of Alabama at Birmingham. He is also an active speaker for professional organizations, a blogger, a podcaster, and a serial entrepreneur.
As an engineer in industry, Dale has served in telecommunications,
automation, software development, and project management. As a
faculty he has been part of Electrical and Computer Engineering course
development, program development, and led an active research program in embedded systems and tracking. Most importantly, Dale provides education and resources to help invigorate engineering careers that have gone stale
by teaching how to find the right career path and win. His course in personal
entrepreneurship continues to be the flagship of the Information Engineering Management program by rekindling the fire and spirit of innovation engineers once felt, but found smothered after years of bureaucracy.
Dale lives in Birmingham, Alabama with his wife is Lea. He has four
children and two grandchildren.

Hope to see you at the meeting!

Chapter Meeting Presentations
As a means of helping chapter and local community members who are certified as a Project Management Professional (PMP®) satisfy the continuing education requirements for re-certification, PMI Metrolina Chapter arranges its monthly meeting schedule to allow a 1.5 hour PDU training session to be incorporated into its normal meeting.

Topics presented during these sessions are designed to not only satisfy the PDU requirement for re-certifying as a PMP, but to also provide wide appeal to people involved in project management regardless of whether or not they are certified PMPs. The 1.5-hour sessions meet the educational requirements to qualify for 1.5 PDU credits for maintaining PMP® certification or to meet the requirement for attending 35 hours of formal project management education prior to applying to sit for the PMP® exam.

The sessions are open to all.
