Jon M. Quigley

Agile Project Management compared to Conventional Project Management

It is can be easier to understand a thing, by comparing that thing to something you already know. This presentation will provide a comparison of Agile/Scrum methods to conventional project management. We will demonstrate that though these two approaches are distinctly different, they share considerable commonality of purpose to meet similar goals.  Sharing this knowledge in your organization can help reduce anxiety over something seemingly foreign, and facilitate further exploration of the agile approaches.

Jon M. Quigley has been involved in engineering and business, specifically product development and product management, for nearly 30 years.  Jon has experience from creative design idea (7 US patents) through development, testing and release to production of iterations during which time Jon has applied both traditional and agile / scrum methods, including agile nested within a very hierarchical, waterfall based organization.  Jon has authored numerous books on business, project management and product development topics as well a myriad of articles at over 50 magazines and e-zines.

In addition to his BSc in Electronic Engineering Technology from UNCC, an MBA in Marketing and a MSc in Project Management from City University of Seattle, Jon has membership in SAE, Software Test Professional, AIAG and PMI (holding Project Management Professional certification).
