TOPIC: Marketing Yourself as a Project Manager and Helpful Area Resources

SPEAKER: Jerry Hix and Andi Handcock, Beacon Hill Staffing Group

Jerry Hix:

Born and raised in the Carolinas and a graduate from USC in 2003 (BA), Master’s degree in 2007. His experience in technical recruiting experience exceeds 10 years and has built client relationships in 7 markets across SC & NC. Jerry currently lives in the Fort Mill area.

Andi Hancock:

Born and raised in the greater Charlotte area and a graduate of UNC Chapel Hill in 2014. She has 2+ years as a technical recruiter. Andi has placed individuals in various industries including IT, financial, manufacturing, retail, wholesale, automotive, and healthcare industries. Position placements include program managers, project managers, project coordinators, business analysts, data analysts, data scientist, software developers, process designers, process analysts, datacenter technicians, cable technicians, QA testers, etc. Andi has staffed in markets across the UC including NC, SC, TN, VA, FL, CA, WA, MO, and AZ.


 

One key to project management success is making yourself marketable. As industries morph along with the field of project management, it can be difficult to remain competitive. Our conversation will focus on marketing yourself through various outlets by highlighting project management trends and key items employers are looking for in today’s job market. We will also discuss valuable resources for project management professionals that is relevant to the Charlotte area.

Community Chapter Meeting 

As a means of helping chapter and local community members who are certified as a Project Management Professional (PMP®) satisfy the continuing education requirements for re-certification, PMI Metrolina Chapter arranges its monthly meeting schedule to allow a 1 hour PDU training session to be incorporated into its normal meeting.

Topics presented during these sessions are designed to not only satisfy the PDU requirement for re-certifying as a PMP, but to also provide wide appeal to people involved in project management regardless of whether or not they are certified PMPs. The 1-hour sessions meet the educational requirements to qualify for 1 PDU credits for maintaining PMP® certification or to meet the requirement for attending 35 hours of formal project management education prior to applying to sit for the PMP® exam.

The sessions are open to all.
