A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To Becoming A Leader

Paul Marks

Speaker:  Paul Marks

In July of 2009, Paul formed Over The Counter improv to teach leadership, public speaking, and quick thinking skills through improvisation and right brain thinking. By 2012, Paul was featured in an article for the Charlotte Observer regarding the benefits of improv in the corporate world; and, in 2013 he was selected as the Keynote speaker on leadership in New Orleans for 700 college students. He has worked with companies such as Wells Fargo, Ingersoll-Rand, Elevation Church, Novant Health and many others. As a top executive said at University Eye Associates, “Paul’s workshop had more laughter than at any function in our 35 year history” Welcome Paul Marks

OTC Improv prides itself on taking fun improv games and turning them into games/exercises that will yield tangible results for corporations. Whether the employees are conservative or outgoing, this workshop helps everyone discover methods to improve skills such as leadership, active listening, and innovation.

Our first objective is to develop both sides of the brain through fun exercises and historical data that back up the validity of the process. This has a tremendous impact on a professional when they are giving a presentation or talking to their employees because they can elucidate their ideas and vision seamlessly.

Second, we want help each person to think outside the box to solve problems and create new business opportunities through the creative process. OTC improv is specifically designed to help everyone think quicker and more fully in the corporate environment.

Third, we want each person to realize the power of agreement. In other words, we have dozens of games that require team cooperation in order to work. These games help people realize how much more can be accomplished through listening and agreement. In fact, agreement (or YES AND as they call it in improv) is the cornerstone of every OTC improv game.

Finally, we hope to create a business atmosphere in which people have fun while improving their right brain skill set.

Hope to see you at the meeting!

Chapter Meeting Presentations
As a means of helping chapter and local community members who are certified as a Project Management Professional (PMP®) satisfy the continuing education requirements for re-certification, PMI Metrolina Chapter arranges its monthly meeting schedule to allow a 1.5 hour PDU training session to be incorporated into its normal meeting.

Topics presented during these sessions are designed to not only satisfy the PDU requirement for re-certifying as a PMP, but to also provide wide appeal to people involved in project management regardless of whether or not they are certified PMPs. The 1.5-hour sessions meet the educational requirements to qualify for 1.5 PDU credits for maintaining PMP® certification or to meet the requirement for attending 35 hours of formal project management education prior to applying to sit for the PMP® exam.

The sessions are open to all.
