Introducing Satellite Site: Asheville, NC
By Annette Hobbs We are pleased to announce the founding of the
Asheville, NC satellite of PMI Metrolina.
We are so excited about this venture that we decided to depart
from our 2007 bi-monthly meetings and begin holding monthly meetings.
Our meetings are open to all current PMI Members and anyone
interested in project management in the Western North Carolina area.
We meet the 4th Thursday of the month, at the Volvo Construction
Equipment office building: One Volvo Dr.; Asheville, NC 28803.
We start the evening at 5:30 PM with food and networking and
begin with the program and presentation at 6:00 PM.
Our first meeting was held in June 2007 with
Annette Hobbs discussing an essential project management topic: “Ethics,
the Leader’s Guide”. Yassin
Chickha, last year’s Metrolina’s President, brought us a topic that was
applicable to many members:
“Managing Multinational Teams”.
There was so much interest in Doug DeCarlo’s offer to share his
knowledge of “Xtreme Project Management” that we scheduled our October
meeting around his busy consulting and speaker schedule.
In January, Dr. Jeanne Dorle, Director of Project Management
Graduate Programs at Western Carolina University opened 2008 with her
presentation of “Understanding the Impact of Diverse Thinking Styles on
Project Teams”. During our
March meeting we discussed what the members wanted from these meetings
and that is when we decided to increase the frequency to meet monthly. Our future meetings will be posted on the PMI
Metrolina web site at least two weeks before each meeting.
The cost of Asheville satellite meetings will be $10 in advance
and $15 at the door. This satellite is lead by Annette Hobbs who is
supported by two other volunteers.
